TENDER MERCIES INTERNATIONAL
Welcome to Tender Mercies International

Who we are:

Tender Mercies International (TMI) is a Christian childcare charitable organisation. Legally it is an unlimited company without share capital and is affiliated to Omega International Ministries (OIM). Mrs. Christine Kyazze wife to Pastor Michael Kyazze, Senior Pastor of Omega Healing Centre, founded TMI in April 1998. The organisation is located in Namasuba, a suburb of Kampala , Uganda Our History:

TIM was founded out of the need to care for the increasing number of orphans, destitute and deprived children mainly due to the HIV/AIDS epidemic, civil wars and gross poverty. The number of children under our care has steadily grown from five in 1998 to 208 in the last four years.

Mission Statement:

Our mission is to bring hope to orphaned and deprived children and instil in them Christian values that turn them into responsible citizens.

Our Values:

Tender Mercies International is founded on Biblical principles. We are dedicated to make a difference both spiritually and physically in the lives of orphans and deprived children in Uganda through;

•  Caring;
•  Loving;
•  Supporting;
•  Equipping
•  Disciplining; and
•  Teaching the Word of God

Our Objectives:

•  To care for the deprived children in Uganda who are orphaned by the HIV scourge and other natural causes;

•  To provide orphaned and deprived children with basic needs including clothing, food, boarding and health care; and

•  To build orphanages, schools, technical and vocational institutes, health care units and hospitals in various parts of Uganda for the welfare and benefit of deprived children.

Activities

We do not believe in placing children in institutions as the best option. TMI embraces a holistic gospel approach in its activities. This is done through employing community based strategies that do not detach children from their families where possible. The school has grown to more than 230 children and now boasts of two new permanent classrooms blocks.

Tender Mercies International is involved in the following activities:

•  Providing education to more than 200 children at Blessed Valley Primary school.

•  Paying school fees for 283 children.

•  Providing vocational training in carpentry, tailoring and hairdressing to the youth;

•  Providing mental and spiritual rehabilitation through counselling and Christian fellowship;

•  Providing food rations, clothing and medical care to more than twenty families;

•  Seeking sponsorship for needy children through national and international linkages for tuition and other school requirements.

Our curriculum imparts the children with knowledge and skills that equip them to be successful and responsible citizens. The curriculum is spiced with extra curricular and spiritual activities which provide a more relaxed environment to communicate Christian values and life skills. These include;

•  Sports

•  Music, Dance and Drama

•  Creative Dance

•  Computer Studies

•  Christian Fellowship

Partners:

Tender Mercies International works with a number of organisations and individuals. We receive support from Rancho Christian Centre, Vineyard Church and members of Omega Healing Centre. We thank our partners for the continued spiritual, moral, material and financial support.

Future Plans

The increasing number of orphans, deprived and vulnerable children continues to be a challenge. Our hope and prayer is to:

•  Buy land for expansion of our primary school

•  Build a secondary school

•  Set up a vocational institute to provide hands on skills training like brick laying, tailoring, carpentry and welding

•  Build a community primary health centre
